most beautiful marriage equality ad EVER
I want to freak out subconsciously, but at the same time it’s really well-done and I just LOVE the concept and aaaaaah happiness!
My heart! My heart! This is so gorgeous!

How many homophobes does it take to change a lightbulb?
Homophobes can’t change lightbulbs. They’re afraid of all change, even if it makes the world brighter.

It looked like this:
This, as you can imagine angers me. I took at quick break and wrote down my thoughts on the matter. This was written very much from a personal level, as my girlfriend and I have had all of the things relating to couples happen and I have had all of the personal things happen (I haven’t been fired, but it’s a real possibility). I did try to write it to appeal to a larger audience though.
When you have to “come out”,
Then you can have straight pride.
When your partner’s parent introduces you as “the room mate”,
Then you can have straight pride.
When your partner and you have an in-depth discussion about whether or not to tell their boss that you’re sharing a car with “my friend” or “my partner”,
Then you can have straight pride.
When you and your partner are worried about finding a one-room apartment without rejection due to your kind of relationship,
Then you can have straight pride.
When you and your a partner can say “We’re getting married” or “We’re married” without feeling like you’re slightly lying,
Then you can have straight pride.
When you are your partner can hold hands or kiss in public and are physically, verbally, or sexually harassed because of your kind of relationship,
Then you can have straight pride.
When you have people who get offended by your sexuality after meeting you (“But you’re such a nice person…”),
Then you can have straight pride.
When you have older women who are complete strangers come up, lay their hands on your shoulders, and pray to Jesus that He takes the demons out of you,
Then you can have straight pride.
When you can get fired due to your sexuality or gender identity in most states in the US,
Then you can have straight pride.
When your sexuality is no longer “the norm”,
Then you can have straight pride.
This was an anger trigger for me. My head is buzzing as I have now just realized why the whole “Straight Pride” thing has always bugged me. I always just suppressed the reaction, because I couldn’t put my finger on the reason why it pissed me off, but now I know. Reading this put words to the source of the emotion.
Dear Straight Pride douches,Fuck your straight pride. This world hasn’t put you in a place where you need it, and it offends me that you feel the need to flaunt it in a trolling counter-protest, because you somehow think Gay Pride is a joke. You haven’t had to have a Stonewall Riots. You don’t get it, and you’re too apathetic to get it. You’re offensive, and I kind of want to be violent in your general direction.
Sincerely,
Me
